Every software developer knows that its not enough to know several programming languages by syntax, to be a good developer you must have a technique. One that not only resolves your problem, but resolves it in a quick, simple and efficient way. Agile methods is one of them and is addressed mainly for cross-functional teams. Right after installing Fedora 11 on a laptop, you will notice that touchpad click doesn’t work and you might think this is a bug. But actually the feature is disabled by default, I don’t know why they didn’t leave the touchpad click activated by default, maybe its a bug after all by not detecting that you are running on a laptop.
Here’s how you can activate the touchpad click in Leonidas:
1. Run in terminal the command: gnome-mouse-properties
2. From the window Mouse preferences choose the Touchpad tab and enable touchpad click. Same for the edge scrolling.
Its that simple.

Many of the Java developers know how it is to work with Swing in Java for creating a nice GUI for their application, a total waste of time! Since I started working at my new job, one of the coordinators there told me study more about Gui4j which is a framework for describing Java Swing GUIs completely in XML.
This framework is really simple and fast to learn, you have a XML file for every window you create. Also the user interface is created dinamically and you can separate the controller from the GUI definitions, so that the GUI elementes have acces to the methods of the controller, but the controller no acces to the GUI elements.
In the following code you will see how you can make a window with a button in Gui4j. For that I’m gonna use Eclipse and the libraries: gui4j-1.23.jar, dom4j.jar, commons-logging-1.1.jar the first will be used for the GUI and dom for XML handling.
Here’s the structure of the project:

Project structure
The controller package will contain BangController, BasicController, the main package will contain BangMain and the xml package the xml files used for the description of the GUI (also inclused view.dtd).
The components of the Gui4j framework are described in gui4jComponets and the file can be downloaded together with the needed libraries from Gui4j’s official website.

When I first started working as a Java Developer with Eclipse, I used to envy my collegues because they knew all this shortcuts in Eclipse, so I decided to cheat a bit. Rather than to memorize all those keys in an ordinary way, I found this cool plugin for Eclipse which shows you for your every action which shortcut key you might use instead of your mouse action.
The plugin is called Mouse Feed and it pops up ballons with information about the shortcuts available for your current action. To install this pluging, download it from here and copy it into the Plugins folder of Eclipse. After that restart Eclipse (File -> Restart) and start working as usual, you will soon notice the pop ups.

Selecting refresh with mouse
Be aware that not all actions have assigned shortcuts, you can assign keys from Window -> Preferences which will automatically appear in the mouse feed also.

As you may know, Java compiled files come in the extension of a class file. Sometimes, you may need to see others already Java compiled files and notice it can’t be done with usual editors. Class files don’t just open, they need to be decompiled back to Java files.
For that, theres a small decompiler called Jad, which you can easily convert class files to java files. Just download from here the Jad decompiler and run from the command line:
jad filename.class
The result will be a file filename.jad which can be opened with notepad. Jad is a 100% pure C++ program and is not an open source application. Don’t worry, its free to use.
